Any American, not just those conservative in values, should ignore the mounting evidence surrounding Hunter Biden’s likely criminal business associations and the possible implications for his father, President Joe Biden. It seems increasingly implausible that the president had no knowledge of his son’s dealings with Ukrainian and Chinese companies. More concerning is the growing mountain of evidence that Joe Biden received financial benefits in exchange for providing access during his tenure as Vice President.

The revelations regarding Hunter Biden’s overseas business ventures are deeply troubling and demand a thorough investigation and complete openness. Holding elected officials accountable for any misconduct or potential ethical violations is supposedly a value of the left – why not embrace that with their own sitting president? The mounting proof of culpability suggests that Joe Biden cannot distance himself from his son’s actions any longer.

Moreover, the allegations surrounding Joe Biden’s involvement in these dealings point to corruption at the highest levels of government. Any form of corruption is unjust and Americans should demand transparent and honest government that serves the interests of the American people.

The selective targeting of former President Trump, while overlooking the mounting evidence against Joe Biden, is of paramount cause for concern. It appears that those wielding the levers of power are more interested in pursuing a political agenda than ensuring justice and fairness prevail.

The truth must be unveiled and if wrongdoing is discovered, those responsible must face the consequences – regardless of their political affiliations. America’s republic thrives on transparency, honesty and the willingness to hold those in power accountable for their actions – not those who one merely disagrees with.

It should be made clear that no one is above the law. However, it is noteworthy to point out how Republicans are so keen on launching an investigation on Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, but have not been interested to do the same over former President Donald Trump. Is there really a genuine interest in justice?

Ever since Joe Biden announced his presidential run, his son Hunter has been under scrutiny about his drug addiction and his business dealings with companies in China and Ukraine and if those actions influenced Joe Biden’s stances on foreign policy. Hunter is also under criminal investigation into his tax filings and allegedly lying on forms in order to obtain a handgun. He, as of now, pleaded guilty to the two misdemeanor tax charges and avoid prosecution and President Biden has denied any involvement with his son’s business dealings. It has been said by the Republican of Kentucky and the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, that the investigation is not politically motivated but because its a threat to national security because his dealings leave the president compromised.

If this threat to national security were a concern to anyone, especially members of the Republican Party, perhaps Trump hiding intelligence documents that also raised fears over national security would be an even bigger situation since he plans to seek office again. Trump has denied any wrongdoing and was recently charged with retaining the classified document, described as a “presentation concerning military activity in a foreign country.”

Despite what the outcome is for both of these investigations, why is there more care for the Biden investigation than Trump? Is it selective outrage? If Republicans wanted to really have concern over national security, then they should hold their own members to the same standards. If there is no double standard, then what is the reason to investigate Hunter and turn a blind eye or tread lightly regarding Donald Trump? Do they really believe Hunter Biden is a threat or is this investigation coming from a sour place of putting Trump under investigation?

Though former-President Donald Trump continues to be indicted as a result of many civil and criminal accusations, another key figure in American politics that could also be facing some serious legal trouble is President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden.

Whereas Trump is being prosecuted for crimes such as stealing classified documents and election fraud, Hunter Biden is facing charges related to tax evasion and lying about his history of drug use in order to pass a background check when buying a firearm. In both cases, the Department of Justice, as well as Congress, have been working relentlessly to determine whether there is enough evidence to hold these two criminally liable.

Though this may seem like a fair balance of administering justice, many supporters of the former president do not exactly see it that way. Since the FBI raid into Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate – the one in which it found over 300 documents marked as “classified” – many of Trump’s supporters immediately declared this be a demonstration of a “two-tier justice system.” Put simply, many believed that, by virtue of being a former president, any steps taken toward holding Trump accountable are automatically political.

That being said, hopefully, the investigations into Hunter Biden can finally put to rest the notion that the Biden administration is manipulating the DOJ into only going after its political adversaries. If there is proof, beyond a reasonable doubt, of criminal wrongdoing on behalf of Hunter Biden, then he should be held accountable to the fullest extent.

In both of these cases, we are witnessing the DOJ function as it was intended to: it is being objective, impartial, and most importantly, non-political.

If a man commits a crime, should he not be punished for it? You are probably thinking “yes” and you are right. Let us make it a little more interesting – what if this person is a high-profile figure and has had other discrepancies in the past? One might say this is only building a stronger case against him. Now I ask you, what if I said the person is Hunter Biden? Depending on your own feelings, you might answer this question differently than the first two, if at all.

If most people dislike a potential liability, politicians loathe it with a burning passion, hence why they tend to bury the truth. One might argue you have to choose either one or the other, you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

In a nutshell, that is the devil of it. You cannot have your cake and eat it too; it is just not possible. So, from an ethical standpoint, should a high-profile figure like Hunter Biden be allowed to create a plea deal to simple misdemeanors, when there is a possibility he has committed felonies or worse? That is a loaded question; however, it is also one to some extent being considered by a judge in the Hunter Biden case.

But, Hunter is not the only member of the Biden family in hot water right now. The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the Biden family’s domestic and international business dealings to see if they 1) endanger U.S. Security or 2) prevent Joe Biden from being an impartial spectator when it comes to leading a presidential administration.

These are heavy questions, one of which could be plausible grounds for impeachment of Joe Biden and possibly jail time. Nevertheless, the hard truth about justice is the fact nobody is above it and must answer to it. While that is not always the case with high-profile figures, if this investigation reveals anything incriminating, the Bidens must face justice like everyone else for their actions.
